How It All Started.....

On October 6, 2010, I was in Lansdowne, Virginia at the home office of Prison Fellowship (my employer). I was scheduled to be in town for a series of meetings. Every Wednesday morning, there is a "chapel service" held for employees and guests. The speaker was Melissa Macy who presented on New Horizons for Children.

New Horizons for Children describes themselves as, "a Christian based, international hosting program, which brings over orphaned children from Eastern Europe twice a year to share with them the love of God and the love of a family".

Melissa shared her story of hosting two children from the Ukraine. I went online to the New Horizons For Children web site and signed up to view the photo listing. Later that day, I sent the link to my wife. After a week or so, we selected a child from the Ukraine to host for Christmas.
